Marie Claire and EYECANDIES collaborate with photographer Yushi Li to capture Liu Wen's September cover

Recognizing the self, exploring the self, imagining the superego. At first glance, a new interpretation of “I” is realized through the confrontation between the individual and the other. Yushi Li realizes Liu Wen's “superego” through the surreal construction of the image.

The so-called “masculinity” does not have to be aggressive, but can be developed in a relaxed atmosphere. This series of works shows the visual hierarchy of multiple roles, from dualistic to pluralistic perspectives and power relations. The “she” in the works may be immersed in the illusion of power, but the desire hidden in the depths of the images is released by being interpreted and watched.

YTHART Interview Hu Xingxin : Maintaining an Intimate yet Detached Relationship Between the World and Me

Read Isaiah Boring's famous parable, “The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one great thing.” I knew I always wanted to be a hedgehog and wanted to spend a long time slowly getting better and better at one thing. I used to be a 9-5 office worker for a long time, but gradually realized that I couldn't be a hedgehog in that kind of lifestyle, so I chose to reorganize my life. But eventually began to paint, it seemed there was no specific opportunity, tried a lot of things, design, and illustration, but it seemed to be at variance with what I wanted to do, or interested in the expression, the constant debugging gradually came here.”

Artist Interview Fei Xue: “I would choose a particular image or story, much like capturing one possibility from numerous parallel worlds.”

" I follow my intuition when I am creating artwork. At that moment, it is hard to distinguish between reality and non-reality, which is what makes the creative process interesting—it allows anything to happen I think it's both. Sometimes, the creation starts around a certain emotion, while other times, the content is formed through synesthesia and association. It happens precisely in the moment of creation."

        Artist Interview Zhouhua Hu:

"Society or "reality" itself is a piece of work. We participate in it, get entangled with it, and it is constructed and revealed because of us."

"I believe that the best state for creation is instinctive and spontaneous, an extension of passion unrestrained by reason. Usually, I establish a framework when creating a piece, such as a thematic concept, an implementation plan, or the composition and form of the image. Then, I allow myself to "lose my mind" in the expression of certain elements."

Weijue Wang :Soft wool felt that hurts

"Wool is so soft and gives a soothing gentleness to the soul. But making wool felts requires a needle to be stuck down, and bleeding fingers and violent movements are the undercurrents that follow each piece of work."

        Kering Interview

Weijue Wang:No boundaries is the best state of mind

"Women must have such repressed feelings because of certain boundaries that have been formed ...... I am showing that boundary, expressing the situation as I see it now, and leaving the rest to the audience. "

The artist Yanqi Liang uses the embroidery of a Buddha's hand and a hand in a freeze frame to express the intimacy of mutual dependence and resistance.

Artist Interview Weijue Wang "Women are always expected to 'perform for pleasure'."

At first glance, you may be confused by the femininity of these works - walking into the exhibition is like walking into a young girl's dream, a "gentle land" where one can let down one's guard, but Wang Weijue's ten works with their bright red colors and open mouths seem to be trying to say something to you, something that women have opened their lips countless times but have hidden deep in their hearts, confined in the norms of the society, but have not yet expressed their psychological activities directly.

        Art Review   "The Rose-Colored Cage"

A young girl with pigtails wearing an exaggerated leg-of-mutton sleeved gown gazes out at the viewer with a grave expression; soft and delicate felt spells out hazy female faces and blurred body parts; white sexy lingerie with delicate lace is wrapped in gentle pink wool, as if she is falling into a romantic dream. ......

How this dream-like photo challenges notions of the male gaze

"There's also the gaze from the algorithm, and the gaze from the screen that reflects yourself when you look at it ... the internet (means)we're subjected to the gaze more, in a way."

Artist Interview  Jiaqi Liu : Fading Colours as Memory

A dusty love letter, an old wedding photo, and a noisy and joyful wedding banquet have linked up our memories of the past era: once upon a time, people quietly sent each other hazy feelings in letters, and the obscure words recorded a period of youthful and simple love in that era.
